Ascending Palestine
Peace
Upon you. All blessings and all peace.
Prophet of Mercy.
How you travelled through the sky faster than the speed of thought,
How the ladder of the sky unravelled just for you to climb,
How in your mantle you could hide all of space and all of time,
Horizon, horizon how you could cross to the company of your Lord
I do not know. I do not know.
By the Star when it falls
I do not know. I do not know.
But Lord, I do know
That when the distance between
You and Majesty
You and Divinity
You and Mercy
You and Nur
Was two bows lengths or less
Nur and Nur
Majesty, majesty
Divinity, divinity
Mercy, mercy.
When you stood in the company of your Lord
In the realm where Gabriel burns
You still wore your sandals.
The sand beneath your sandals shines
And watches all the earths and all the skies
Creation, uncreation. Past and Present.
The sand that you had brought
On you journey from, the sacred mosque to the farthest mosque
Beneath your sandals shines
The sand of Palestine.
The sandals from which the bodies of infant martyrs will be formed
Martyrs whose Atoms have already seen
The heavens and the earth
Already kissed
Your sandals and your feet
Peace,
Upon your sandals and your feet
And the holy sand beneath.
Peace,
Upon you. All blessings and all peace.
Prophet of Mercy.
