Ode To Karachi

 Karachi, you shining waste land

Where dogs are gnawing in the sand

In rolling dunes they rolling pray

Calling out they sacred name

I hear their sermon in the night

In the clock 'fore break of light

Songs of fortitude they sing

In the company of Djinn

Where they sleep is holy land

Karachi you shining waste land

As I watch them rise in sleep

Through forests of concerete

Theirs souls travel beckoning

Tramps and martyrs, souls calling

Each towards this holy song

That Dogs have taught all saints to sing

That it is fair, fortune, fitting

That in a life we do nothing

Only watch as we idle stand

Karachi, you shining waste land
